FAQ & Buyer Protection

We built wantd.in on trust. Here's exactly how we protect every transaction — and what to do if something goes wrong.

Who verifies sellers and how?

Every seller on wantd.in goes through a manual verification process before they can submit bids. Here's what we check:

  • Government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN, or Passport)
  • Active business registration or GST number (for dealers)
  • Mobile number verified via OTP
  • Sample listing or track record of past sales (for individuals)
  • Manual review by our team within 24–48 hours

Sellers who pass all checks receive a Verified Seller badge on their profile and all their bids. Unverified sellers can still join but cannot accept escrow payments until verified.

🛡️ If you receive a bid from an unverified seller, you will see a clear warning. We recommend only accepting deals from verified sellers.
🔐

How does escrow work on wantd.in?

All payments on wantd.in go through an escrow flow coming soon — sellers and buyers coordinate securely on WANTD.

  1. You accept a bid — click "Accept Offer" on a bid you like.
  2. Funds are held — payments will be held securely before release to the seller.
  3. Contact revealed — the seller's phone number is unlocked for you to coordinate.
  4. Inspect the item — meet, verify, and check everything before confirming.
  5. Confirm receipt — click "I received the item" to release funds to the seller.

The seller never gets the money until you confirm. You are always in control.

💡 Never confirm receipt until you have physically inspected and accepted the item. Once confirmed, the release cannot be reversed.

Buyer protection policy

wantd.in guarantees the following to every buyer who transacts through our escrow system:

  • Your money is never sent to the seller before you confirm
  • Full refund if the seller fails to deliver within the agreed timeframe
  • Full refund if the item received is materially different from what was described
  • Free dispute mediation by our support team
  • Direct support from the WANTD team for any disputes
⚠️ Buyer protection applies only to transactions completed via the in-app escrow flow. Deals arranged outside wantd.in (cash, UPI to seller directly, WhatsApp) are not covered.
⚠️

What happens if a deal goes wrong?

We take disputes seriously. Here's the timeline:

  • Contact our support team within 48 hours of the agreed delivery date
  • We pause the escrow release and open a formal dispute
  • Both buyer and seller submit evidence (photos, messages, receipts)
  • Our team reviews and resolves within 5 business days
  • If resolved in your favour: full refund within 7 business days
  • If a refund is needed: our support team will process it promptly

For complex cases, our support team will work directly with both parties to resolve the issue.

Platform fee & how it works

wantd.in charges a 2% platform fee on the deal amount at the time of escrow payment. This is deducted from the seller's payout — the buyer pays the full agreed amount.

  • Fee is 2% of deal value (minimum ₹50, maximum ₹5,000)
  • Charged only when escrow payment is processed — no listing fees
  • Fee covers: payment processing, buyer protection, escrow service, dispute mediation
  • Full fee breakdown shown to buyer before payment confirmation
  • Sellers see their net payout clearly in the bid interface

Example: on a ₹50,000 deal, the platform fee is ₹1,000 (2%). Seller receives ₹49,000.

The 2% fee is negotiable for high-volume sellers. Contact us at support@wantd.in to discuss custom rates.
